- Born and bred in Ards East, married, with 3 children and 1 grandchild
- Employed in the meat and farming industry for 27 years, presently employed as the Building Supervisor at Castle Gardens School
- First elected to Ards Borough Council in 1997
- Present Mayor of Ards
- Served on numerous Council committees including External Affairs, Planning, Economic Development and Borough Development
- Particular interest in education especially special needs education and the promotion of the area as a tourist destination
- Supports numerous charities such as NSPCC and Cancer Research
- Member of the Orange Order and Royal Black Institution
