- A member of the Fire Authority for Northern Ireland, he is actively involved in the work of the Audit, Appeals and Joint Negotiating Committees

Political Career

- Elected to Ballymoney Borough council in 2001
- Vice chairman of Economic Development Committee
- Campaign manager in the South Antrim by-election in 2000 and also in east Londonderry and North Antrim in the general election of 2001
- serves on the Glebeside and Castle Community Associations and the Somme Association
- a board member of Ballymoney Local Strategy Partnership and the Regional partnership for Northern Ireland.
